Giving Tuesday: 4 Nonprofits To Support In Danvers

Here are a few ideas for #GivingTuesday.

DANVERS, MA— The ruckus that can be Black Friday and Cyber Monday is finally giving way to #GivingTuesday. So how about those local charities?

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season on Nov. 28. Since it began in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources, said the organization.
Here is a (growing) list of nonprofit organizations operating or helping in Danvers:

  1. North Shore Elder Services: An organization that offers information, support and solutions that include home care services, caregiver support, health benefit advice, money management, home delivered meals, nursing service, housing option referral, crisis management.
  2. Essex County Community Foundation: This organization manages more than 80 charitable funds that provide grants to 100's of organizations countywide. They've initiated several collaborative programs for specific projects.
  3. North Shore Players: The North Shore Players is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Community Theater Group that is dedicated to the performing arts and is now celebrating its 60th year.
  4. New England Home for the Deaf: The New England Homes for the Deaf is one of only two facilities in the nation that offers specialized nursing home care and specialized nursing home care and assisted living for people who are both blind and deaf. In 2011 it ran into serious financial problems, the Salem News reported.
