Heroic Bystander Chase Throws Out First Pitch for Danvers Americans

Danvers native Mike Chase, who has become a local hero since rushing to the aid of bombing victims last Monday in Boston, gets to open the season for Danvers American Little League.

Opening day for Little League in Danvers is this Saturday and for the American division, Michael Chase will be throwing out the first pitch at Plains Park.

Chase is a DALL alum and the boys' varsity soccer coach at Danvers High; he's also become a hero for his actions last Monday. He and fellow Danvers resident Dan Marshall were two of the bystanders who went into action to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

"As you know, Michael was one of the very special people who was pictured directly in the rescue efforts at the Boston Marathon bombings. He is a true hero...we are honored to have him join us," says Laurie McCannon of the DALL in an announcement.
