How Do I Get Parking Ban Notifications on My Cell Phone?

With the decision made on Tuesday to lift the wintertime overnight parking ban effective Jan. 1 in Danvers, residents who regularly park on the street will want to make sure they are notified when a parking ban goes into place.

The ban will be put in place when a winter storm is approaching and the streets need to be clear "curb-to-curb" for snow removal.

The cost for a parking ticket, tow and the first day storage charge totals $175. The easy way to avoid it will be to move your car off the street between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. when the parking ban is in place.

Town Manager Wayne Marquis said Tuesday that the town will also send out a message when the parking ban has ended.

The ban will also be announced on the town website, on North Shore 104.9, on Danvers Patch and on two message boards on two sides of Danvers Square.

The notification "Reverse 911" calls will come via an existing service the town uses known as Connect-CTY. It goes to landline numbers for all town residents and other numbers that have been added. You can also add a cell phone number or alternate number too. Here's how:

1. Log on to the town’s website.

2. In the lower righthand corner of the website, there is a box to click for access to Connect-CTY information.

3. Once you are in the Connect-CTY field, you choose either residential or business for either a new contact or to edit or delete existing contact information.

If you want to edit an existing account, you will need to login with the phone number or e-mail that is already in the system.
