St. John's Prep competed in the 10th annual Basketball Hall Of Fame's Hoophall Classic on Jan. 17, among some of the best basketball teams in the nation.

Heading into the fourth quarter, it looked like the Eagles were en route to their first loss of the season, trailing Perspectives Charter School by nine points on Monday. But that's when St. John's Prep came alive again, making up those nine points and then some to rack up a final score of 62-53.

The Eagles were 8-0 going into the 10th annual Basketball Hall of Fame's Hoophall Classic in Springfield, taking on the Chicago-based charter school. The Chicago team controlled the first three quarters, keeping the Eagles from doing much damage on the hoop.

The Prep's Steve Haladyna scored 17 points in the second half. Along with six rebounds and three steals, he was named Most Valuable Player of the game, although he did foul out with more than two minutes left. Usual high-scorer Pat Connaughton knocked down 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, only scoring four points and missing several 3-point attempts until late in the game. Freddy Shove had 10 points for the Eagles.
