The Danvers High varsity hockey squad out played Salem for a 6-2 victory on Saturday at Salem State.

The Falcons shredded the ice in Salem Saturday for a 6-2 victory over the Witches.

Danvers’ Joe Strangie had two goals for the game – the first in the opening three minutes of play with help from Peter Marshall and Brian O'Keefe. The second goal came at 3:24 in the second period with assistance from Pat McBride.

Following another three pucks in the back of the Salem net thanks to Tyler Dustin, Jack Doyle and O’Keefe, the Falcons were up 5-0 at 6:03 in the third period and poised for a shutout. Salem’s Jesse Wilkins and Eric Rosengren came back to score two on Danvers over the next six minutes of play, however. Junior Steve Wilkinson, assuming goalie duties against the Witches, made nine saves.

The Falcons last goal for the day was on a shot from sophomore Rob Buchanan at 14:54 and the Falcons’ boys improve now to 4-2-2 for the season. Salem fell to 1-4-1 with the loss.
