'Large' Power Outage Leaves Half Of Danvers In Dark

DANVERS, MA — A significant portion of Danvers was in the dark as the sun set on Tuesday.

The town reported what it called a "large" power outage in the town shortly before 4 p.m. The town said Danvers Electric crews had been dispatched.

It was estimated at the time that restoration could take about two hours.

(UPDATE: The Danvers outage map as of 5:15 p.m. showed that most of the power in the town had been restored.)

The outage map as of 4:10 p.m. indicated that almost the entirety of the eastern half of Danvers was without power.

The cause of the outage was not revealed.
