'Major' Danvers Water Main Break Closes Street, Disrupts Service

Drivers were urged to avoid the area as crews worked to repair the break on Wednesday morning.

DANVERS, MA — Drivers were urged to avoid the area of Locust Street in Danvers on Wednesday as the road was closed while crews repaired a "major" water main break.

The Danvers Department of Public Works said the break occurred on Locust Street between Lakeview Avenue and Salem Road.

"Our crew is actively working to repair the issue as quickly as possible," Danvers DPW said on Wednesday morning. "Due to the severity of the break, this portion of Locust St is closed to all motorists and will not be passable."

Danvers DPW said residents on Locust Street, Lakeview Avenue, Bridle Spur Lane and Valley Road were to be without water service until the break was repaired.
