Man Found Dead In Canton Had Danvers Ties

The Norfolk District Attorney's office confirmed Thursday afternoon that the body is Joey Brancato.

CANTON, MA — A dead body found near Interstate 95 South in Canton belongs to a marine recruit who had been missing for months. The Norfolk District Attorney's office confirmed Thursday afternoon that the body belonged to Joey Brancato. The Roslindale man with ties to Winthrop was last seen by the Marine recruiter he was living with near Mendelsohn Street in Roslindale on Nov. 18, 2017.

A cause of death has not been determined. Brancato has family living in Danvers.

The remains were found Wednesday afternoon just south of the Interstate 95/93 split by a person who stopped to help a driver in need of assistance. Investigators were at the scene for hours after the discovery.

Marine recruiter Frank Lipka of Roslindale has been called a person of interest in the case, Patch previously reported. He was in West Roxbury District Court Monday on unrelated assault charges. And was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail on gun-related charges.
