Rollover caused traffic backups on Route 1 in Danvers

Massachusetts State Police charged a New Hampshire man with impaired operation, child endangerment, and committing a marked lanes violation after he rolled his pickup truck on Friday on Route 1 northbound in Danvers. The man’s two-year-old daughter was in the truck but was not injured.

The driver, Fernand R. Fauteux, 27, of Seabrook, N.H., is currently under State Police guard at Beverly Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Once he is discharged, he will be booked on charges of operating under the influence of drugs, endangering a child by operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and committing a marked lanes violation.

Troopers from the Danvers Barracks responded to the crash at 12:27 p.m. on Route 1 northbound, in the vicinity of Centre Street, in Danvers. Investigation indicates that Fauteux was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S10 truck with a New Hampshire registration when the truck went off the road, hit a fire hydrant, and rolled over. First responders extricated Fauteux from the vehicle and also rendered aid to the young girl.
