Night Work Will Close Lanes On Route 1

MassDOT will start work on the $9.6 million project next week.

From the Massachusetts Department of Transportation: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that overnight lane closures on Route 1 in Saugus will begin on Sunday, July 7 and continue each night through fall 2019.

The lane closures will be implemented each evening from 9:00 p.m., through 5:00 a.m. the following morning. These impacts will take place at various locations on Route 1 between Route 99 in Saugus and the Lynnfield town line, and are necessary to allow crews and contractors to safely and effectively conduct construction operations.

Throughout these operations, there will be at least one lane of traffic in both directions. This work is part of a $9.6 million pavement and sidewalk improvement project on Route 1. The full project is currently expected to be completed in spring 2021.
