North Shore Community Mediation Center Welcomes New Board Members

New Faces on the Mediation Board

As the 20th Annual Meeting of the North Shore Community Mediation Center (NSCMC) drew to a close in September 2014, a new chapter opened for this Essex County organization providing mediation programs and services to the courts, schools and community organizations.

Taking the helm as President of the Board is Dick Langworthy, a West Newbury resident and retired executive in the Dairy Industry who is a trained mediator and an advocate for the services that NSCMC provides to residents of Essex County. Proud of the Mediation Center’s contributions to the community, Langworthy’s goal is to not only maintain these high quality mediation programs and services but hopes to reach out even more. “Conflict resolution through mediation is finally getting its deserved recognition as a resource for individuals and businesses in our communities,” he says with a smile, “and now it is time to expand its reach…and let everyone know how we can help.”

He invites the community to support NSCMC at the 20th Anniversary milestone event being held at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club on Thursday, November 6, 2014 where renowned author, Andre Dubus III will be the guest speaker and the organization will honor the participants of its youth mediation program in area schools. “Our youth is our future,” continues the incoming Board President “and we are pleased to acknowledge them at our event.”

Also elected to the Board of Directors are Carol Rice of Salem and Jay Robbins of Marblehead, both trained mediators and active on the mediation panel at the Center. Along with veteran Board Members and a talented and dedicated staff, NSCMC under Langworthy’s leadership, is looking to host a successful event on November 6 and continue to serve the community with a continuum of programs that make the world a gentler place.
