North Shore Police On Alert For Youth 'Takeover' Event Amid Social Media Posts

Danvers police said they were monitoring social media calls for the flash mob at the Liberty Tree Mall and Sky Zone on Friday.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers police urged parents to talk with their children about "making responsible choices" amid social media reports of a planned juvenile "take-over" event at the Liberty Tree Mall and Sky Zone on Friday afternoon.

Police said they were aware of several social media posts promoting the flash mob.

"We are actively monitoring this information and working closely with our partners at Liberty Tree Mall, Sky Zone and neighboring law enforcement agencies to coordinate an appropriate response should these events occur," police said early Friday afternoon. "Our shared goal is to help prevent any disruptive or unsafe activity while ensuring a safe environment for everyone."

Police encouraged parents to be aware of their children's social media use around the potential flash mob.

Those with information related to the planned "take-over" are asked to contact the Danvers Police Department at 978-774-1212 or 911 in the case of an emergency.
