NORTH SHORE ELDER SERVICES ISSUES REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

FOR ELDER SERVICE PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON REDUCING SOCIAL ISOLATION

Danvers, MA 01923 – North Shore Elder Services (NSES), the Area Agency on Aging serving Danvers, Marblehead, Middleton, Peabody and Salem, has issued a Request for Proposals to fund elder legal services; free or low cost mental health services delivered to home bound elders, socialization programs and volunteer engagement activities for isolated elders and mobility/transportation. Particular emphasis is focused on assisted transportation or innovative ride share services; and services that are sensitive to and provide support for elders with special needs or are isolated. Priorities also include programs that serve veterans and/or those who are disadvantaged by economic, racial, cultural, and/or linguistic barriers; and programs that promote elder independence.

Funding is provided by NSES through the Older Americans Act and is subject to the availability of federal funding. The project period begins October 1, 2018, and ends on September 30, 2019, with an opportunity for renewal during the period October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2019. Total funding available for the Planning and Service Area is $79,191 and funding is contingent upon the allocation and receipt of federal Title IIIB funding from the Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs.

“These funds are separate from those used to support our home care operations,” notes—Elaine Miller, Area Agency on Aging Planner or those programs federally funded through the Older Americans Act. “The Title III programs covered in the RFP require a 15% cost share and can be used as seed money to start programs which will later become self-sustaining.” Minority businesses and organizations, and small business concerns are encouraged to apply.

Interested parties should contact Elaine Miller at NSES via email at emiller@nses.org to request application materials. Completed applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 8, 2018.
