Lived most of her life in Danvers

Eleanor Kristin “Ellie” (Donoghue) Honan, 55, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital from a short lived battle with cancer. She was born in Dorchester on March 4, 1959 to late John and Marie (Crowley) Donoghue. She lived most of her life in Danvers. She was educated at Saint Mary of Annunciation School in Danvers, Bishop Fenwick High School, and Salem State College. Ellie worked as a nurse for 30 years and as an Operating Room Nurse for the last 15 years. In 1981 Ellie married Michael G. Honan. They have three sons, Michael, John, and Kevin. She was the middle child with four siblings who all adored her greatly. She loved her family unconditionally and irrevocably. Ellie’s presence will be missed by everyone she came in contact with. She lit up the room when she walked into it and I’m sure everyone would say she was the most selfless woman they’d ever met. She took care of everyone and her life goal was to make sure her family was happy and safe. She was fiercely loyal to her friends. She loved gardening and had the ability to grow anything and make it flourish. She was a champion at the newspaper crossword puzzles. Ellie had an upbeat personality and infectious smile that drew people towards her. Ellie is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; her son Michael of Danvers; her son John and his wife Lisa of Danvers; her son Kevin of Danvers; and her granddaughter Julia who all brought her such great joy. She also leaves behind her sister Patricia Crowley and her husband Timothy of Groveland; her sister Mary Ann Gauthier and her husband Mark of Georgetown; her brother John Donoghue and his wife Kathleen of San Antonio, TX; and her brother Terry Donoghue and his wife Joanne of Meriden, N.H. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and in-laws who loved her deeply. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Ellie’s name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
