Obituary: Margaret M. "Aunt Peg" (Callahan) Bezemes, Longtime Resident of Danvers

Margaret Mary “Aunt Peg” (Callahan) Bezemes, 87, died February 17, 2015 in Georgia. She was the loving wife of the late Steven Bezemes.

Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Terrance and Mary Callahan. She was raised and educated there and had been a resident of Danvers for most of her life before relocating to Georgia three years ago.

For forty years was employed in the leather industry. She was a hardworking woman who worked in a male-dominated profession. She was respected by all of those she worked with and those for whom she worked. Following her retirement, Aunt Peg babysat for numerous children in and around the Danvers Area. She loved going to her grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events.

She was a warm, loving individual who never spoke a harsh word. She will be sorely missed.

She leaves her niece, who she raised and considered her daughter, Nancy Bezemes-Farley of Jefferson, GA, and two grandchildren, Vanessa and Vincent Farley. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, to whom Aunt Peg was a favorite. Aunt Peg never met a person she did not like and leaves several good friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Terrance, John, and James.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Gove St., Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 3-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, PO Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.
