Obituary: Vincent H. "Vinny" Farley Jr., Danvers Police Officer For 35 Years, Retired as Lieutenant

He served in the National Guard for six years.

Vincent Henry “Vinny” Farley Jr., 74, of Jefferson, GA, formerly of Danvers, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, 2015 following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Nancy Bezemes-Farley.

Born in Cambridge on Aug. 29, 1940, he was the son of the late Marie and Vincent Farley. He was raised and educated in East Boston and Danvers and relocated to Georgia with his family in 2007.

For thirty-five years, Vinny was employed with the Danvers Police Department and retired as an acting lieutenant. He served in the National Guard for six years. He was a practical joker who enjoyed making other laugh.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Dawn Cobak and her husband Jay of Topsfield, Gwen Husson and her husband Kevin of Hampton, NH, Vanessa Farley, and Vincent Farley III, both of Jefferson, GA, his beautiful grandchildren, Piper, Jake, Leila, and Seth, his brother, Kevin Farley and his wife Anne of Danvers, two sisters, Janet Weafer and her husband Kenneth Weafer of Beverly and Mary Ann Lyons of Salem, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Seth Farley.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
