Planning Board to Consider Permit for Former Chemical Plant Site Tonight

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily source for community events, happenings in town and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Tuesday, May 28.

  1. St. John's Prep lacrosse has qualified for the postseason in Division I East play and hosts the winner of tomorrow's Andover/Cambridge R&L contest on June 1 (4 p.m.) at the Prep.
  2. The Affordable Housing Trust meets tonight (7 p.m.) in the Town Manager's Conference Room at Town Hall. You can find the agenda here.
  3. The Planning Board also convenes tonight (7 p.m.) in the Toomey Room at Town Hall. Jeff Bunk, owner of Bunky's Marina, will be appearing before the board for a special permit and site plan approval for 128R Water St. Bunk is hoping to build a yacht brokerage on the site, which is in the Waterfront Village District. The now vacant land is also the site of the former CAI/Arnel plant that exploded in Danversport in 2006. You can find the entire agenda for tonight here.
  4. Children's Room is open again: The renovations downstairs in the Children's Room of the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers are now complete and the room is back open for kids.
  5. Danvers is recognizing its longest serving Town Meeting members on June 6 in a special ceremony at Town Hall. Both those living and late members who spent more than 25 years as elected representatives will be recognized on June 6. The celebration will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Toomey Room.
