Danvers Emergency Route 128 Ramp Road Closures Extend Hours After Propane Tanker Crash

UPDATE: State Police closed both ramps from Route 128 to Endicott Street through late Monday afternoon.

DANVERS, MA — Hours of road closures remained in effect in the area of Endicott Street in Danvers late Monday afternoon following a propane tractor-trailer rollover crash on Monday morning.

The town said that, as of 4 p.m., both ramps from Route 128 were still closed. Drivers were advised to use Sylvan Street to access the Liberty Tree Mall and businesses before Dunkin, and use Endicott Street coming from Water Street to access Massachusetts General Hospital.

The town said to anticipate the road closures to stay in place through the early evening for clearing of the road and replacing traffic lights damaged in the crash.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area of Endicott Street in Danvers on Monday morning after the propane tanker overturned, trapping the driver.

Police said Endicott Street was closed in both directions to all traffic as of 9:30 a.m. while emergency crews — including a Hazmat crew — were on the scene.

Emergency services reports on social media said responders were able to remove the trapped driver from the tractor-trailer and that the driver was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
