Puritan Lawn Memorial Park recently awarded five local students $17,000 in scholarships for their secondary educational expenses. The foundation awarded its first scholarship in 1999 and is now in its 18th year of providing financial aid to deserving students.

Sarena Santos - Sarena will be graduating from Peabody High School and attending Simmons College this fall.

Alexandra Gerardi - Alexandra will be graduating from Lynnfield High School and attending the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Science in the fall.

Eligible candidates include students who may not, as of yet, achieved their full academic potential due to circumstances beyond their control. Our students often have to place family responsibilities ahead of their education. A few examples include students who need to work to help contribute to their family’s finances, those taking care of an ill parent or sibling or not having adequate housing. Our scholarship targets students who have had to take on a more adult role and therefore their studies may have suffered. We at Puritan Lawn are looking to provide the momentum to help these students succeed academically. Our recipients are determined to beat the odds and obtain their goal of pursuing secondary education and we are determined to assist them.
