When the alarm sounded on April 19, 1775, Danvers was among the local towns that sent soldiers and supported the Patriot cause in general.
As many town residents know, Danvers has a long and storied history that dates back to well before the founding of our country. The town sent Minutemen to Lexington and Concord and at one point even could have turned into Lexington and Concord itself if things had gone just a tiny bit differently at the Salem drawbridge the day Leslie's Retreat occurred.
