DANVERS, MA -- The Massachusetts Department of Transportation reopened Route 114 eastbound and Route 1 southbound in Danvers following temporary repairs crews made overnight to a bridge. A truck crashed into the bridge Thursday afternoon, and MassDOT initially warned drivers that it could be closed for several days as crews assessed the extent of the damage. MassDOT did, however warn, the removal of a fascia beam was only a temporary fix, and the bridge may need to be closed in the future for crews to make a permanent fix.

The commercial roll-off truck was traveling southbound on Route 1 around 1 pm Thursday with its hoist in the "up" position when it hit the bridge that carries traffic on Route 114 over the highway. No injuries were reported.
