Show's Over for Hollywood Hits Theater

DANVERS, MA — A local independent theater has shown its last film.

The Hollywood Hits theater in Danvers recently announced their closing. On their website, there is a note that reads "We we regret to inform you that we have closed. We thank all our customers for their patronage and loyalty over the last 17 years."

The movie theater opened in 1999 and served as an alternative to the Liberty Tree Mall theater. It started as a discount theater but became an art house that also showed first-run films, according to the Salem News.

Owner Scott Przybycien cited more high-quality movies going straight to on-demand and DVD and competition against larger chains as some of the reasons for the closure.
