St. John's Prep Student Organizes Danvers Blood Drive

With blood shortages critical across the state, Nick Rizos organized the latest in his series of blood drives on the North Shore.

DANVERS, MA — With seasonal blood shortages continuing to be exacerbated during the coronavirus health crisis, donations are as important as ever.

On Wednesday, St. John's Prep will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Danvers campus. Junior Nick Rizos, who organized two blood drives during the pandemic in Danvers last winter, helped put this one together as well.

Rizos organized his first blood drive at the Danversport Yacht Club last February and had planned a second one for the school in the spring.

"This was a personal thing," he told Patch in February. "It's really about just spreading the word about the need for blood and helping in a time that's needed."

Appointments for Wednesday can be scheduled here.
