Taxi Companies Go Before Selectmen Tuesday for Regular Licenses
Five local taxi services are hoping the board will grant them full licenses to operate in town after three companies were initially fined and ordered to stop picking up Danvers customers due to a lack of proper town permits.
Three taxi companies were fined and ordered to stop picking up customers in Danvers because they didn't have proper town licenses in February, but then were temporarily allowed by the Board of Selectmen to resume operations the next week after submitting their license applications.
Those cab companies and two others will be appearing before the board this week for their full licenses. Each company already operates existing taxi services in neighboring communities, which is why selectmen agreed to the temporary permits.
Nd-A-Ryd, Salem Taxi Company, North Shore Taxi, Land Jet and Tri-City Services will have their applications considered Tuesday night (7 p.m.).

Each company is only asking to license one or two cars, except for Salem Taxi Company, which wants 12, and North Shore Taxi, which wants 10.
Nd-A-Ryd also needs a full permit to travel the town's streets and provide transportation on a reservation basis only.
