Think Christmas In August
Create a unique tree, have fun, and help the Danvers Historical Society all at the same time.
What better time to start thinking about Christmas, especially trees and wreaths, than in August. That’s what the Danvers Historical Society hopes families, businesses, and organizations will do as they begin planning the 9th annual Holiday Parade of Trees. Right now everything is growing and DHS would like to grow this holiday festivity as well by starting now to solicit participants.
It’s not too early to commit to creating a tree or wreath which would become part of the Parade of Trees. These trees are raffled off during the first week in December and the winners take it all home. Trees can come in any shape or size as long as they are not made of fresh greens. They often have gifts of some sort on them making it much more fun for the winner.
Donating a tree is a fun way to advertise your business. It could be from a school where the children create the ornaments and ideas. It’s a great way for organizations to gather community recognition. Families can donate a tree in remembrance of someone or some event that they want to share with others. It’s a great way to have creative fun. A tree or wreath doesn’t have to be green or have regular branches.

Danvers is the home to much American history, it adds a lot to the special community feeling. Keeping this history alive is important and much of that job falls to the Danvers Historical Society. However that job takes funds, lots of them. The annual Parade of Trees is just one way that the Society tries to raise the required funds to support their education and preservation mission. It’s a fun event to participate in and to attend.
So please think of Christmas in August. Go to https://www.danvershistory.org and click on Programs or call 978 777 1666 to reach Laura Cilley at the Society and let her know that you will donate a tree or wreath come the end of November.
