- The town began discussing plans to have Route 1 relocated so that it would bring drivers through Danvers.
- A 16-year-old Paul Fagg pitched a no-hitter and helped Ferncroft defeat Danversport in a 5-0 victory.
- 400 National Guardsmen from the North Shore, including 100 Danvers residents, left for active duty field training with the 26th Infantry Division in Camp Drum, NY.
- The Danvers Recreation Department held the “Playground Season,” which invited children to participate in events such as a trip to Pine Island Park, a fishing rodeo, and a visit to Fenway to see the Red Sox play.
- The Cubs won the Danvers Babe Ruth League Championship with an 11-5 record.
