Topsfield Fair To Crown 55th Mrs. Essex County In October Pageant
Essex County women can apply by Oct. 8 for the pageant, set for Oct. 11 at Coolidge Hall.

TOPSFIELD, MA — The Topsfield Fair will crown the 55th Mrs. Essex County during this year's 208th Fair in October.
The pageant is scheduled for Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. in Coolidge Hall on the Topsfield Fairgrounds. The winner will represent the Essex Agricultural Society at local events and serve as an ambassador of the Topsfield Fair.
Hundreds of women have entered the contest over the years. The pageant is not described as a beauty competition. Instead, the contest is open to applicants who must be married, at least 18 years old, and currently living in Essex County with their spouse.

Each contestant must also submit a prepared food item. This year's category is the family's favorite celebration dessert. Judges will score contestants on general appearance, personality, poise and food score.
Applications are available on the Exhibitor's Handbook page of the Topsfield Fair website. The entry deadline is Thursday, Oct. 8, at 10 p.m.

Daily admission tickets to the fair are $20 each. Discount general admission tickets are available through Oct. 1 for $15 plus a $3 convenience fee, and can be used any day during the fair's 11-day run.
A three-day pass, valid for any three days, is available for $42 plus a $3 convenience fee. Children younger than 8 are admitted free with an adult admission ticket.
