Verdict Possible Today in Limbaugh Case
The jury continues deliberations on seven charges against a Danvers man accused of slashing a Danvers police officer during a scuffle outside the man's home.
Both sides gave closing arguments Wednesday and the jury returns to Salem Superior Court today to continue deliberations and decide if Roy Limbaugh is innocent or guilty on each of the seven charges against him.
Limbaugh, 59, is accused of slashing Danvers police officer John Melto and inflicting serious injuries during a scuffle near Limbaugh's mobile home on Popes Lane in August 2011.
He faces charges including failure to register as a sex offender, armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a police officer.

Limbaugh, a convicted Level 3 sex offender who has represented himself in the case, claims Melto's injuries were self-inflicted and that Melto actually started a fight.
Prosecutors say the entire incident led from Limbaugh's failure to inform the Danvers Police Department where he was working at the time.
