VFW Post 2359 - Voice of Democracy Contest

9th to 12th grade students in Danvers, Topsfield, Middleton, Wenham, Hamilton, and Boxford are invited to enter before October 31, 2026.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2359 invites 9th to 12th grade students to participate in the 2026-2027 Voice of Democracy Contest.

Established in 1947, the Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, more than 26,000 9th through 12th grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.

Record your original 3–5-minute audio essay. Submit the recording file, typed transcript, and completed entry form via email or address below (for flash drives or other electronic media).

This year's Theme is “What a Veteran Taught Me About America.”

Applications must be submitted by October 31, 2026.
