The Viewer's Guide to Danvers' Kayla Harrison at the 2016 Rio Olympics

The Danvers resident defenders her gold medal in judo this week.

The road to a second gold medal comes to Rio as Danvers resident Kayla Harrison looks to defend her judo title this week at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Four years ago, Harrison left London with America's first gold medal in judo, defeating Great Britian's Gemma Gibbons in the final. This time around, Harrison is once again a favorite to win at 78 kg.

Time and Broadcast Information

The 78 kg judo tournament will take place on Aug. 11 and start at 9 a.m. Portions of the tournament will be shown on the NBC Sports Network with both mats being streamed live on NBCOlympics.com. If Harrison gets out of the quarterfinal round, the semi-finals start at 2:48 p.m. and the final is scheduled for 3:40 p.m.

The tournament is a one-day event.

The Bracket

Harrison will have a bye out of the round of 32 and start in the quarterfinal round. Her opening match will be against Zhang Zhehui of China at 10:10 a.m. The winner of that match will face the winner of Mami Umeki (Japan) vs. Pürevjargalyn Lkhamdegd (Mongolia)/Abigél Joó (Hungary).
