Waiting For The Registry Of Motor Vehicles? What Else Is New?

After two years without a RMV branch, North Shore drivers are being told they will have to wait another two months.

DANVERS, MA -- The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles says it will open its newest branch in the Danvers Crossing plaza on Route 1 South "within the next two months." The Registry closed its only North Shore branch in the Liberty Tree Mall more than two years ago, forcing North Shore drivers to Wilmington, Revere or Lawrence, or an AAA branch that offers some limited RMV service. Prior to closing because of air conditioning problems in June 2016, the Liberty Tree Mall branch served an average of 315 customers per day.

"People have been inconvenienced, so they're looking forward to a solution," State Rep. Ted Speliotis (D-Danvers) told the Salem News, which first reported this story. "Out of anything I talk about, (the new registry) is what excites my constituents the most."
