Watch Live Forum Tonight With Three Candidates for Selectman

All three candidates running for two seats on the Board of Selectmen will appear in a forum tonight on DCAT.

There's a three-way race on for two seats on the Board of Selectmen between incumbents Keith Lucy and Dan Bennett and challenger Dave Mills.

The Town Election is May 7, but before then, all three candidates will appear live on Danvers Community Access Television Tuesday night for a forum in which they will field questions from editors from your local news outlets. The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Comcast Channel 99 or Channel 36 on Verizon.

Mills is a former prosecutor and Danvers Town Moderator and spent 25 years as a Town Meeting member. He was first appointed as a judge in 2001.

Lucy, an electrical engineer, is finishing up his third three-year term on the board and is now the most senior member of the board with the resignation of Michael Powers earlier this month.

Bennett, who unsuccessfully challenged state Rep. Ted Speliotis again in November, is looking to win a third term on the board. He works as a real estate agent in town and has previously served on the School Committee and the Board of Library Trustees.

It may well turn out that all three men end up on the board in light of Powers' resignation.

Selectmen Chairman William Clark says that while resumes are being accepted for the vacancy, he is planning to nominate whoever loses on May 7. If the rest of the board agrees, that appointment will last until the next Town Election.
