City and state government offices are closed Saturday and will have limited hours on Christmas Eve. The post office will be closed Saturday.

The Danvers Department of Public Works said with the holiday on a Saturday trash and recycling collection will not be delayed a day this year.
Banks are also closed on Christmas but should be open on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve, the MBTA's bus and subway lines will be on a Saturday schedule, while everything else runs on a regular weekday schedule. On Christmas, most of the T will run on a Sunday schedule, except the commuter rail, which will be on a regular weekend schedule. There will be no Christmas ferry service.
Most retail stores are closed on Christmas, but that can vary. Definitely call ahead before heading out.
Most malls and shopping centers are open on Christmas Eve until 6 p.m., but some are open as late as 9 p.m. Again, call ahead if Santa needs to finish last-minute shopping.
Many pharmacies and drug stores are open to some extent on both Christmas Eve and Christmas.
Liquor stores will be closed on Christmas.
