Who’s Running for Office This Year?

With a week left for candidates to pick up and file nomination papers, Danvers may see multiple races this year. 

As of noon Monday, there would be races for Board of Selectmen and School Committee as well as four precincts for Town Meeting at the May 6 town election.

Scott W. Herwig and Diane M. Langlais have taken out papers to run for selectmen. Langlais was chosen by the board to complete former Selectman Mike Powers’ term. Powers resigned in 2013. She is now looking to run for a full-term, but may face Herwig in May. 

Eric R. Crane, John “Jack” W. Billings, Rick Benevento, Robert F. Murphy and Jeffrey T. Kay have all taken out papers to run for School Committee. Crane is an incumbent. Crane and the other four candidates would vie for two seats on the board. School Committee member Jean McCartin does not plan to run for reelection.

Precincts 4, 5, 6 and 7 may all see races for Town Meeting this year as more candidates have taken out papers than there are seats available.
