• Waltham school bus company accused of price rigging in Dedham, Lynn, Saugus settles collusion case (bostonglobe.com subscription) — Dedham is set to receive part of a multimillion-dollar settlement after state officials accused two school bus companies of colluding to rig prices on transportation contracts in several communities. The lawsuit claimed the firms agreed not to compete, driving up costs for towns like Dedham. A recent settlement with an Ohio-based company follows a similar deal with another operator and includes future oversight of acquisitions.
   

• Judge acquits man in Quincy murder trial before it ever goes to jury (patriotledger.com) — A Norfolk Superior Court judge in Dedham has acquitted a man charged in a 2022 Quincy apartment murder, ruling there wasn't enough evidence to even send the case to a jury. The decision, reached in the Dedham courthouse, ends the local murder prosecution but the defendant remains held on an unrelated warrant. The case hinged on cell phone data and surveillance video that the judge found inconclusive.
