• East Longmeadow Fire Department hosts annual Sept. 11 candlelight vigil (thereminder.com) — East Longmeadow residents, officials, and firefighters gathered at the fire station on Sept. 11 for the town's long-running candlelight vigil marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks. Speakers including state legislators and local leaders reflected on sacrifice, younger generations' fading memories, and the importance of continuing this annual community tradition. A student's bagpipes and "Amazing Grace" framed the solemn ceremony.
• Developers Script Next Chapter for Historic Schermerhorn's (businesswest.com) — A regional hospitality duo has revived Holyoke's historic Schermerhorn's seafood restaurant and now plans to expand their portfolio with more eateries and possibly a hotel. For East Longmeadow, the most direct impact could come from their proposal to build a commercial ice cream kitchen in town that would supply all of their restaurants, potentially as soon as next year.
