2 Rescued Before Commuter Rail Demolishes Vehicle

Another frightening situation in the midst of the storm today.

BRIDGEWATER – Two people was rescued from a vehicle moments before a Commuter Rail train smashed into it on Broad Street Thursday afternoon. No one was injured, Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher Delmonte said.

The vehicle got stuck on the tracks near Spring Street shortly before 1 p.m. The driver and a passenger were helped out of the car by two bystanders before the train tossed it into nearby gates and a control shed, exposing live wires, according to police.

Broad Street is closed while the incident is investigated and repairs are made.
