Alleged Jewelry Thief Arrested After Fleeing Police and Hiding in Storm Drain
Christopher Azevedo was arrested for breaking and entering and larceny.
An Easton resident was arrested Thursday after fleeing from Easton Police and hiding in a narrow storm drain pipe with six inches of water.
Christopher Azevedo, age 27 of 464 Foundry St. was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and larceny. He also had several outstanding warrants, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said.
As of Thursday evening, he was being held at the Easton Police Department.

Upon further investigation, Sgt John Lynn and Det Leonard Coe went to 464 Foundry Street to follow up with a photo of Azevedo that was taken by a surveillance video in the Greenwood Village complex.

"While at the home speaking with the suspect’s mother, the suspect fled out a window and ran through the Greenwood Village condos, across Bay Road and into another condo complex, Clay Gables located on Lamplighter Lane which is off of Foundry street west of the Five Corners," Krajcik said.
Azevdeo climbed into a storm drain with a 24 inch opening and hid in a narrow pipe in about 6 inches of water for over an hour, Krajcik said.
Police were assisted in finding him by the Easton DPW and a local Easton company, Araco Sewer and Drain Service responded with a camera that is used to view drains and sewers.
When he was located, he gave himself up to police and was checked out by EMT's from the Easton Fire Department.
