EASTON, MA —Easton residents may notice crews flushing fire hydrants around town over the next several weeks as the community's annual water system maintenance program gets underway.
The town has begun its annual water system flushing program, which is expected to last six weeks, according to a Facebook post from town officials.
The program helps maintain high-quality drinking water by removing naturally occurring mineral deposits and other buildup from water mains. Crews accomplish this by opening hydrants and directing water through the distribution system.
Residents can find the daily flushing schedule and locations on the town's website.
As flushing continues over the next several weeks, residents are encouraged to take precautions to avoid potential disruptions.
Whenever possible, residents should avoid running water while flushing is taking place on their street. Town officials also recommend avoiding hot water use, washing machines, dishwashers and other water-using appliances during active flushing in their area.
Residents with questions or concerns can contact the Water Division at 508-230-0850.
