Southeastern Regional Voc Tech's New Vice Principal of the Innovation Academy

Linda Radzvilla has a rich background in both education and life experience. As the new Vice Principal of Southeastern’s Innovation Academy and Performing Arts, she’s bringing the “school within a school” to the next level by bringing academic teachers on board to provide more integrated classes and co-teaching for students.

The Graphic and Performing Arts cluster includes Television, Drama and Graphic Design. “Music today involves the digital world. Songs are written on computers, films produced off ipads and iphones. Students can look forward to valid careers out of online success through technology, having a business plan, and getting advertising dollars. They have to understand the market and needs. New careers are constantly emerging, and young people can build a successful business from a hobby” noted the new Vice Principal.

Faculty are embracing the academy model along with supportive staff and administration. “It’s my perfect job, with right and left brain people working together” said Ms Radzvilla. “The Innovation Academy allows students to pursue an area they’re passionate about without stifling their creative side. Today’s students are in a race to the top with MCAS and achievement gaps. There’s a lot of pressure to meet benchmarks, and that won’t stop. These requirements need to be filled with a natural seam that allows them to critically think.”

Vice Principal Linda Radzvilla, a resident of Westwood, MA and a graduate of Fontbonne Academy holds an Associate in Occupational Studies, a Bachelors of Science in Food Service Management and Food service Education from Johnson and Wales University and a Master of Education Leadership from Cambridge College. She attended Graduate School at Boston University where she fondly remembers the Gastronomy program which included Julia Child’s “Food Anthropology” class, taught in Ms Child’s Boston home.  “She is as she’s portrayed” said the Vice Principal, “and a cool, amazing, down to earth person.

Ms Radzvilla spent her college summers working at Camp Powhattan in Otisfield, Maine. The “Seeds of Peace” program held during the last 2 weeks of August pared Israeli and Palestinian youth to learn collaboration, play soccor, problem solving, sailing, swimming, group activities, with the goal they would remember their childhood friend into adulthood.

Ms Radzvilla began her teaching career at Southeastern as a student teacher in Culinary Arts in 1991, was immediately hired as a long term substitute teacher, then went on to spent seven weeks in Europe. She is excited to have come full circle. She has a decade of administrative experience from Boston and Waltham Public School systems with a strong vocational and academic background.

Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School is a public 9-12 vocational high school located in Easton, Massachusetts, serving approximately 1,255 students from the city of Brockton and the towns of East Bridgewater, Easton, Foxborough, Mansfield, Norton, Sharon, Stoughton, and West Bridgewater.
