Attempted Abduction in Whitman: Police
Whitman police said a man tried to abduct a 9-year-old girl playing with friends.
WHITMAN, MA — Whitman police said a man tried to abduct a 9-year-old girl Friday.
Police said the suspect grabbed the girl from behind and put his hand over her mouth at about 4:15 p.m. on Lazel Street. The girl was playing with two friends at the time. Police said the other girls may have startled the suspect, who fled behind a house in an "unknown" direction.
The suspect was described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s. He's about 5 feet, 10 inches, clean shaven, with acne. He was wearing a black stocking hat, brown jacket, blue jeans, black shoes, and black fingerless gloves, police said.

Police said they have received several tips but have not yet located the suspect.
