Bay State Games Kick Off With Tryouts

Athletes from over 300 cities and towns in Massachusetts will compete this summer in the 2012 Bay State Games, with the first tryouts beginning on Friday, June 1.

The first wave of tryouts for basketball, soccer, ice hockey and volleyball for the 2012 Bay State Summer Games begin Friday, June 1 across Massachusetts, with qualifiers for swimming and track and field beginning Wednesday, June 13.

Tryouts and qualifiers for all sports will be held in each of the six regions of the state, which will face off in the annual Olympic-style competition from July 6-22.

Tryouts for basketball, soccer and ice hockey are open to all male and female high school students in the state. The volleyball, swimming and track and field events offer qualifying divisions for athletes of all ages and experience.
