DUI Checkpoint In Bristol County Friday

Massachusetts State Police said a drunk-driving checkpoint will be held somewhere in Bristol County Friday, July 28.

Massachusetts State Police recently announced a sobriety checkpoint will be held somewhere in Bristol County Friday, July 28. The roadblock will be held that night and will stretch into the early morning hours of the following day. Per usual policy, the exact location or time frame of the checkpoint was not divulged.

“The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways,” State Police Colonel Richard McKeon said in a statement. “It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.“

The effort is funded with a state grant.
