Materials Used to Make Meth Blown up by Bomb Squad

The afternoon incident took place on Summer Street and on Pheasant Street.

Fire and police officials spent the afternoon investigating a suspicious backpack on Summer Street.

At around 1 p.m., an officer saw a man walking down the street before throwing a backpack into the woods according to FOX 25. During the investigation, the man told the officer that the backpack contained hazardous materials.

Crews at the scene determined that the bag had items used to make methamphetamine. Bomb squad members would later blow up the contents of the backpack.

During the incident, police set up an active scene at the man’s home on Pheasant Lane. The Enterprise reports that a search warrant was executed at the home, but police would not state what they are looking for.

The man who had the backpack was taken to a local hospital. He has not yet been charged.
