Easton Huskies' Playoff Chances Take a Hit

The Easton Huskies' playoff bid took a hit Thursday night, losing to the Canton's A's, 6-0, at Frothingham Park. 

Canton's Jared Clement fired a four-hitter to get his win of the season.

Dave Billotte, the Huskies' lead off hitter, had two of the four hits. Nick Thrasher and Tom Savageau had the hits.

For the A's Joe Belmosto had a big day at the plate, going 2 for 5, with two RBI, scored a run and had double. Cory Albanese, Nick Radcliffe, who also drove in two runs, and Andrew Vandini also had two hits.

Phil Towne took the loss, going four innings for Easton. Nate Bayuk pitched two innings with three strikeouts, while Brian Medairos had three strikeouts in his one inning of work.

The Huskies enter weekend play with a 9-5 record. The Weymouth Phillies have played five more games with a 9-8 record and the Canton A's are 8-7.

The Braintree White Sox are running away from the field with a 15-0 record.

Teams are battling for the top two spots in the league to earn a trip to the Stan Musial Regional in Wallingford, Conn. 

The Cranberry League will announce  24 members of the All Star team by July.   The 25th player that will be selected using on-line fan voting. 

The games will be played at Rockland Stadium on Saturday, July 13. The Cranberry League will play the Boston Park League at noon.  The Intercity League will play the Yawkey League at 3:30 p.m.  The winners will play at 7:30.  Admission is free.
