James A. Gorman

James A. Gorman Jr., 80, of Easton and South Yarmouth, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a brief illness. He was the companion of the late Catherine Lovely.

Born in Boston on May 8, 1931, a son of the late James A. and Anne (Folan) Gorman, he was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a corporal in the US Army.

He continued his education at Coyne Technical and later at Northeastern University in Boston earning a bachelors degree in engineering. Mr. Gorman was employed as an engineer for Stone & Webster of Boston for 38 years.

A lifelong resident of Easton, he was a member of the VFW Post 2547 of Easton, a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 238 in Easton, and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

He appreciated spending time as his home in South Yarmouth and his hobbies included boating, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed the company of his friends for many years with whom he would go to the
dog track with.

He is survived by three cousins, Thomas Folan of Foxboro, Kathleen Garrity of Norwood and Margaret Duggan of Rexhame Beach; his lifelong friends, Thomas Powers of Hanson, James Maden of Maine, Donald Otterson of Florida and Frederick Murphy of West Yarmouth; and a dear
friend, Michael Sergio of East Bridgewater.

A funeral service was held at  Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street,
(Rte.138) Easton, Friday, May 11, followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easton. Interment was followed in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton. Arrangements were made by

Beverly Anne Ethier

Beverly Anne Ethier (Holmes) of Easton, passed away on April 24, at the age of 79. She was the beloved wife and best friend of David H. Ethier.

Born in Halifax on Feb. 28, 1933; daughter of the late Wellington and Dorothy Holmes, Mrs. Holmes attended Halifax Elementary School and was a 1950 graduate of Whitman High School.

She was the caring mother of David D. Ethier and wife Karen of Norton and Susan M. Starr of Naples, FL; loving and proud grandmother of Andrew and Emma Ethier of Norton; dear sister of Shirley Nutter of Hyattsville, MD and Warren Holmes and wife Rose of Harwich. Also survived by several cousins and many nieces and nephews.

The former Whitman and Mansfield resident moved to Easton in 1964 and was employed as a sales secretary at Brookfield Engineering Laboratories for 28 years.
She enjoyed her husband’s woodworking creations as well as his flower and vegetable gardens. Also looked forward to annual vacations on Cape Cod and Siesta Key, FL and attending her grandchildren’s athletic events.

A funeral service was held at the Copeland-MacKinnon Funeral Home 38 Center St., Easton, with interment in Furnace Village Cemetery in Easton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Brockton VNA, 500 Belmont St., Suite 200, Brockton, MA 02301.

Vera M. (Ingenito) Casso

Vera M. (Ingenito) Casso, 80, a lifelong resident of Hamden, CT., died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, while visiting her daughter. She was the wife of Thomas M. Casso Jr. for 47 years.

Born in New Haven, CT in November of 1931, a daughter of the late Frank and Elena (Attard) Ingenito, she was raised and educated in Hamden, CT. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University and began working as an x-ray technician for the Hospital of Saint Raphael and later in the private sector.

Vera continued her education earning a Master's Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Upon changing her career, Vera began working as a science teacher for Hamden High School in Hamden, CT.

She was a communicant of Saint Rita's Church in Hamden.

In addition to her husband, Vera is survived by a daughter, Elen Donahue and her husband William of Easton; a sister, Josephine Malavasi of North Haven, CT.; and two grandchildren, Thomas Donahue and Jack Donahue both of Easton, MA. She was also the sister of the late Angelina Matas and Gabriel Ingenito.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, May 8 in the Holy Cross Church, Easton. A memorial Mass will be held in Hamden, CT., at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be sent to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut, Inc. 126 Monroe Turnpike

Ernest M. Arsenault

Ernest M Arsenault. of Chelsea died May 4. Devoted husband of the late Janet (Gallant). Beloved father of Ernest Arsenault and his wife Brenda of Easton, Bryan Arsenault and his wife Donna and Karen Arsenault all of Chelsea. Brother of Dorothy Tillinghast of Revere and the late Edward Arsenault. Cherished grandfather of Tarra, Christopher, Joseph, Steven, Rennee, Brandon, Cassandra and the late Justin. Also lovingly survived by his great grandson Chase Matthews with an additional great grandson due in September as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue in Chelsea, May 9. Services concluded with interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.
