Easton Police Make Arrest in Fire Arm Theft

Suspect in Easton fire arm theft to be arraigned this morning in Taunton District Court.

On Tuesday evening, March 20, there was a larceny of a handgun from Zero Hour Arms in Easton.  The suspect stole a 9mm handgun from a display case.  Easton Police gave surveillance photos of the suspect to the press and last night we received information from an individual who recognized the suspect. 

As a result of this tip, Easton detectives arrested Samuel Matteson, age 22, of 199 Sheridan Street North Easton.

The handgun was also recovered although the serial number on the weapon had been filed off.  Matteson was held on $2,500 bail and transported to the New Bedford House of Correction. 

He will be arraigned this morning in Taunton District Court.  He is being charged with larceny of a firearm, larceny from a building, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and possessing an unsecured firearm.
