Easton Police Make Breaking and Entering Arrest Early Monday Morning

A Brockton man was arrested early Monday for receiving a stolen vehicle and breaking and entering.

After an early morning manhunt, arrested a Brockton man and charged him with numerous offenses.

Rito Silva Teixeira, 27, of 123 Moraine St. in Brockton was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, trespassing, and multiple default warrants from Taunton District Court. He will be arraigned in Taunton District Court Monday.

Police first received a call at approximately 4 a.m. from a resident who saw an "unknown male" walk towards the rear of his property and enter a vehicle parked on the property. Upon arrival, Easton Police Officer Brian Humenuk saw the subject flee into the woods.

Along with the state police and a k9 unit, a manhunt ensued. Police eventually spotted Teixeira on the corner of Center Street and Short Street. After a foot pursuit, Teixeira was arrested. He was taken into custody by officers Sean Lynch, Brian Humenuk and Jason Wheeler. The car he had been driving, a Chrystler 300, was identified as stolen.

"Officers recovered several electronic devices from the Chrysler 300 which are believed to be stolen from other vehicles in Easton," Easton Police said in a statement. "Teixeira may be charged with additional offenses pending further investigation into the owners of the stolen property."
