Easton Police Match DNA to 2011 Break-In

Police connected a suspect to blood from a housebreak that occurred nearly 4 years ago.

Easton Police had a positive “hit” on DNA that was submitted from a housebreak in May of 2011.

Detectives found a small amount of blood near the entry of the break-in at a Purchase Street home in South Easton and submitted a blood sample to the State Police Crime Scene Laboratory.

Easton Police received information yesterday that the blood sample was connected to David S. Woodman, 23, 596 Walnut St. of West Bridgewater.

Police issued a warrant for Woodman and charged him with larceny and breaking and entering.

Police said it is not uncommon for matches to be made several years after the evidence was submitted if the suspect’s DNA is not in the database when the crime was committed. The crime lab will periodically recheck the database to see if there is a match, police said.
