Brennan Williams sat out Saturday's game with Miami Dolphins as the Houston Texans' offensive tackle has been bothered by a knee injury. The Texans defeated the Dolphins, 24-17, Saturday.
The Easton native is in his rookie year with the Texans after a standout career the University of North Carolina.
“His knee swelled up on him," Houston head coach Gary Kubiak last week before the exhibition game with the Dolphins on the team's web site. "We drained his knee yesterday. It looks fine. We’re going to calm him down here for a day or two, so I don’t know if that means he comes back after we take our break this weekend or not. He’s up and at ‘em today, but we’ll have to settle it back down and see where we’re at.”
Williams, 6-6, 314-pounds, was selected in the third round by the Texans and is vying for a starting spot on the offensive line.
Houston is 2-0 in the preseason, beating the Vikings, 27-13, and the Dolphins. Local fans will get a chance to hopefully see Williams when the Texans host the New Orleans, Sunday, on FOX-TV, at 4 p.m. Houston will close out the exhibition season at the Dallas Cowboys, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.
The Texans will be opening up the regular season at the San Diego Chargers in Monday night game, Sept. 9.
Houston will be hosting the New. England Patriots, Dec. 1.
